LEXINGTON, Kentucky—Nick Baisch who has been head football coach at Lexington Catholic High School for the last two years, has resigned to take a new position as Director of Student Career Development at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, KY, Lexington Catholic President Rob Rumpke has announced.
Baisch has led Lexington Catholic to the state semi-finals in the last two years, in both cases losing to Christian Academy of Louisville (CAL) in the Class 3A football playoffs. Baisch posted a two-year record of 16-12, but 12-2 in Class 3A. The search for a new head football coach begins immediately, according to Rumpke.
A native of Louisville, KY, Baisch is a 2009 graduate of Saint Xavier. Baisch was also a full-time staff member at Lexington Catholic in the Office of Advancement and Enrollment.
"It has been a privilege to serve as the Head Football Coach at Lexington Catholic,” said Baisch. “This program and community have meant so much to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the players, coaches, parents, and supporters who have made this journey so memorable. While this decision wasn’t easy, family is at the heart of everything I do, and this move allows me to be closer to the people I love. Thank you, Lexington Catholic for giving me an opportunity, I know that this program will continue to thrive, and I will always be proud to have been a Knight."
“Nick did a great job at Lexington Catholic,” said Rumpke. “He created a great foundation and framework to continue to uphold the distinguished tradition of competing for football state championships at Lexington Catholic. He really did an impressive job redeveloping the middle school program, and a new program for 3rd & 4th graders. He has been a fine young coach and advancement staff member at our school, and he will be missed. He meant so much to our school culture and was a great example for our players and students. We wish him well in his future at St. X. We understand that family comes first.”
For the previous five years before coming to Lexington Catholic, Baisch had served as an Assistant Coach at Saint Xavier. During his time at St. X, the program had tremendous success, posting a 47- 15 record and capturing the 2021 Class 6A State Championship.
