Bio
Dr. Anthony Valentino holds catechist certification from the Diocese of Trenton, NJ, and has entered the catechist certification program for the Diocese of Lexington. He received his B.A. in English from Montclair State University, where he also earned his M.A.T. He went on to complete an M.A. in English Literature from Monmouth University before earning a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) from Drew University.
His dissertation, Finding Happiness in the Poor, Humble Cottage: “Contented Poverty” in Irish Novels from Famine to Free State, brought together his loves of literature, history, and Irish culture.
Dr. Valentino began his teaching career at St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy, NJ. After graduate school, he taught English at several community colleges as well as Caldwell University. He later worked as a teacher with the New Jersey State Department of Corrections before joining the faculty at St. Joseph Hill Academy High School in Staten Island.
In addition, Dr. Valentino served as the Irish language professor at Monmouth University for eleven years before moving to Kentucky in 2023. He taught at Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, KY, that year and is very excited to be returning to Lexington Catholic.
Dr. Valentino is a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and attends Regina Pacis Chaplaincy parish in Georgetown. He also teaches English courses at Midway University and Grand Canyon University.
