After graduating with her B.A. in Secondary English Education in 2010, Laura Prather taught high school English in Charlotte, North Carolina as a member of Teach For America. She returned to the University of Kentucky for graduate school and simultaneously worked at Transylvania University as an admissions counselor.

After graduate school, Laura was an advisor and instructor at the University of Kentucky. In 2021 she began her role as a school counselor at Lexington Catholic, and she enjoys building relationships with upperclassmen as they work towards their future academic and career goals.

Laura and her husband, Jay, have two children. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and yoga.
