Bio

Mr. John Keane serves Lexington Catholic High School as a full time educator, teaching in both the Religion and English Departments. Originally from the Boston area, he graduated from public high school in Winchester, Massachusetts, and proceeded to study at Middlebury College, Vermont, where he earned his B.A. in Geography and a minor in Biochemistry.

Leaving his family after caring for his ailing brother for roughly six months at home, he ventured into the foothills of Appalachia, working for Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) with children in a Head Start affiliated preschool as well as summer camp participants. He chose, happily, to remain in the area, relocating to Lexington, and obtained a Masters of Public Health from the University of Kentucky. He subsequently applied his industrial hygiene specialization to a large manufacturer situated on the periphery of Fayette County for five years.

Mr. Keane spent three very fruitful years in the formation program of the Franciscans, Third Order Regular (T.O.R.’s), and acquired his second Masters in his present field of practice, Theology. After moving to Florida, he taught Sacred Scriptures and Church History at Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Florida. He returned to Lexington – his home away from home – in 2010, where he began substituting for short and medium term assignments in the Diocese of Lexington as well as one-on-one tutoring in most high school subject areas. He is indeed honored to presently teach in the Theology and English Departments. Mr. Keane lives with his wife and four children just a few blocks away from Lexington Catholic. They are active members of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary church.
