Scott Downs - Head Varsity Coach - [email protected]

Coach Downs attended PRP High School in Louisville where he was a member of the 1994 State Championship Baseball team.  He was named Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball in 1994 and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 12th round; but chose to play at the University of Kentucky instead. His successful college career included making the All-SEC team as a Junior, and led to him being named an SEC Baseball Legend in 2016. 

In 1997 Scott was drafted in the 3rd round by the Chicago Cubs.  Scott Downs made his major league debut in 2000, beginning a 14-year MLB career as a pitcher.  Throughout his career he also played for the Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays, Anaheim Angels, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, and Kansas City Royals.

After retiring from Major League Baseball, Scott coached for his alma mater, PRP High School, for 5 years.  During this time, he helped coach the program to a State Championship in 2017.
