Liberal Arts
In addition to its advanced academic path, the Lexington Catholic High School Exemplar Scholars Liberal Arts Program is designed to take enthusiastic students and integrate a foundation in liberal arts into the required high school curriculum. In doing this, students will develop critical thinking skills which will enable them to explore how they can best contribute to and invigorate the society in which they live. Students will be exposed to a variety of disciplines and experiences throughout this process.
Given this goal, the Exemplar Scholars Program includes a four-year academically rigorous curriculum that will require its students to earn additional credits above the minimum 25 credits required to graduate.
Additionally, students will be provided opportunities to pursue internships and/or conduct research within an area of personal and career-related interest. Exemplar Scholars will be required to present their research or internship experience in the form of a culminating Senior Project designed to demonstrate knowledge and skills gained while in the program.
Importantly, not all, but most of the coursework for the program will not be restricted to Exemplar Scholars exclusively; rather, any student can participate in most of the classes along with the Exemplar students thus enhancing the overall quality of the student body.
All these are accomplished under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Special Academic Programs and the Liberal Arts Faculty Advisor.
