Lexington Catholic High School Y-Club Constitution
ARTICLE I: Name
Section 1: The name of this organization shall be the Lexington Catholic High School Co-Ed Y Club. Section 2: This
Y Club shall be affiliated with the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association
through which it is also affiliated with the YMCA of the USA.
ARTICLE II: Purpose
The
purpose of the Y Club shall be: a student run organization that
involves young people in school and community service work while
teaching them basic leadership skills.
ARTICLE III: Membership
Any student enrolled in the 9th thru 12th
grades of this school, who subscribes to the stated purpose and who
completes the Y Club Membership Application form with fees, is eligible
for membership.
ARTICLE IV: Officers and Advisor (S) Section 1: The
primary officers shall be the President, Vice President, Chaplain,
Secretary, Treasurer, Mentoring Chair, Service Chair, and Publicity
Chair. These officers shall serve a term of one year. Section 2: An
adult Advisor, approved by the school administration and Y Club
members, shall act as club advisor with no limited term of office.
ARTICLE V: Elections
Section 1: The Advisor and President shall appoint a Nominating Committee, composed of as many members as deemed advisable. Section 2: The
Nominating Committee shall propose a candidate for each office, shall
secure each candidate’s consent to serve, and shall read the proposed
nominees at the Y Club meeting before the election. Section 3: Other nominations may be added from the floor, and election shall be by secret ballot. Section 4: Election of officers shall be held, and the Secretary shall report the new officers to the Kentucky YMCA office.
ARITCLE VI: Meetings
Section 1: The
time and place of the regular meetings of the Y Club shall be
determined by the consultation of the Executive Committee with the
school administration. Section 2: Meetings shall be held once a month from September to May.
ARTICLE VII: Committees
Section 1: An
Executive Committee, composed of the Advisor and Club officers, and any
other members selected by the club, shall act in an executive capacity
for the club when necessary and shall prepare proposals to bring to the
club. Section 2: The
President and Advisor shall serve as ex-officio members of all
committees and may appoint, with approval of the Executive Committee,
such additional committees as deemed necessary.
ARTICLE VIII: Amendments
Section 1: Members shall be given at least two weeks notice of proposed amendments. Section 2: Amendments
shall require for their adoption at least two-thirds majority vote of
all affiliated Y Club members. Members must be present to vote; no
absentee votes will be counted. Section 3: Article
I shall not be altered or repealed without the concurrence of the
Kentucky YMCA Youth Association and Lexington Catholic High School Y
Club.

Bylaws shall be prepared which cover the following:
- Membership
- Membership requirements
- Process of membership affiliation
- Membership delinquencies
- Meetings
- Time
- Place
- Order of the meeting
- Quorum
- Special Meetings
- Duties of the Officers
- Standing Committees other than the Executive
- Finance
- Methods of handling finance
- Dues
- Process of Amending Bylaws
- To amend a Bylaw, the Executive Committee will decide process.
