Medical Forms:
Every student-athlete must have a physical turned in by Tuesday, 01/03/12 .  Student-athletes who have turned in a physical already for another sport in the 2011-2012 school year do NOT need to turn another one in.  Forms are at
http://www.khsaa.org/forms/ge04.pdf

Team Expenses Fee:
$150 / athlete is to be turned in by Monday, 02/06/12.  After that time the fee will be $200 / athlete until Friday, 03/02/12.  Checks should be made out to LCHS, with “Track” in the memo.  This money goes toward paying assistant coaches, buses, meet entry fees, equipment, shirts & uniform/warm-up expenses, etc.

Conditioning:

(Tuesday 01-03-12 through Thursday 02-23-12)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 3:30 – 5:30 @ LCHS

Conditioning will consist of jogging for endurance and cardiovascular fitness, weight lifting for building strength, and isometric, plyometric & speed drills for form, coordination, and quickness

This is when athletes get faster, stronger, and more fit, your season will be determined by the pre-season.  This is NOT OPTIONAL; if you are not in a winter sport you need to be here.

Athletes that are out for another LC sport (XC, Football, Basketball, Swimming, etc.) should take 2 weeks off (total rest) after their last game/meet before starting to condition again.

Time Trials:

At the beginning of the season (a week before our first meet) we will do time trials and throwing / jumping trials to see who will be on Varsity to begin the season.  Varsity spots can and probably will change during the season and will be based on coaches’ discretion and times at previous meets.

Season:

Track is a spring sport. The season lasts from early March to May 18th (AA State Meet).  We will practice Monday through Thursday (4 days a week) for that entire period.  We will practice from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Lafayette HS Track.  Attendance at practice is mandatory.  More information on the season & meet schedule will come in February.

Track & Field Events:

During the season coaches will have the final say in what events you will do at each meet, however you can request and try out for events that you may be interested in.  These requests should be done early in the season.
