“Fifth Times a Charm”-The Championship Game

The Girls Soccer team won their first KHSAA Girls Soccer State Championship November 2^nd , 2002 at Georgetown Rawlings Stadium.

They defeated #1 ranked and previously undefeated Sacred Heart in the last 14 seconds of overtime by a score of 2 – 1.

The tying goal was scored from a Katie Gray corner kick, off the head of Sarah Jervis. The winning goal was scored on a

penalty kick by Katie Gray, when Laura Weiler was fouled in the box on a breakaway. Sarah Jervis, Megan O’Brien, Katie Gray, and Cathryn Jensen made the All-Tournament team, with the MVP going to Laura Weiler.

The 2002 Girls State Champions take their celebratory ride on the fire truck,

thanks to the Lexington Fire Department.
