Present: Sandy Devers, Susie Morton, Todd Myers, Tom O’Brien, Pam Schneider, Darryl Stith
Not Present: John Hinkel, Bob Mitchell, Kathleen Quigley

Pam led the group in an opening prayer.

Pam reported:

· The Trinity football scrimmage get together was a nice event. About 35 people showed up and everyone seemed to have a good time.

· Gridiron Classic – this Friday, September 8th, 2006 vs. Scott County

· Class of ’81 Reunion will be tailgating at Mary Queen

· Hoagie Week – September 25th – 28 from 2 PM to 8:30 PM. Anybody that wants to come and help with all the preparations is welcome.
· Hoagie Day - Saturday, September 30th starting at 5:45 AM. Rise and shine and help send the hoagies out the door. Should be done by 9 AM.
· Homecoming – Friday, October 6th. David has offered to cook up the hot dogs and we’ll add some chips and drinks to the menu and invite all alumni to stop by for a bite and some conversation before the big game. Pam wanted the Council’s opinion on whether or not to send out postcards to announce this event. The Council decided to not send out postcards but to contact the local newspaper and ask them to announce it in their Community section of the Wednesday paper. We also suggested announcing it in the local church’s Sunday bulletins. Pam said she’d take care of that.
· Open House –Thursday, November 9th from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. Pam asked the Council members to be in attendance for this event. Some alumni will be at the Alumni table and some may be assigned to the hallways. Our main objective is to greet the visiting parents and students and welcome them to Lexington Catholic.
· Phonathon – November 13-16th, 6-9 PM. Sandy Devers is the Council member in charge of this event. She asked the Council’s opinion on when to have the adults and when to have the students participate. After some discussion, it was decided that the adults would work Monday and Tuesday and the students would work Wednesday and Thursday. Sandy believes we’ll need 8-9 people per night.

Several suggestions were made to streamline this procedure.

1. Cull the alumni list.
2. Call the alumni who have given in the past first; then move onto the people who have not donated.
3. With Darryl’s assistance, we want to draft a letter that each volunteer can use with each phone call. The letter will help update any pertinent information and include amount of the donation. It will also be a way of tracking who we actually got in touch with and who we were unable to contact. That way, those not contacted could be called again at a later time.
4. Sandy said she would talk to Kitty about culling the list.

· Directory Update – Pam wants to put together an updated Alumni Directory. She suggested we could put a letter in the newsletter indicating our intent and asking all alumni to contact LCH when their mailing addresses (snail mail and email) change so that we might have as current a database as possible. Susie offered to draft a letter and send it to Pam for her approval.

· Reunion changes - Pam wants to encourage all alumni to consider having their reunions around the weekend of the Keeneland outing and Spring Fling Dance. She also thinks it would be a good idea to coordinate the reunions in 5 year increments, so for 2007, all classes ending in 7 and 2 would be encouraged to have their reunions that weekend. She asked the Council if we should set up a meeting with the Reunion Coordinators and Alumni Ambassadors to propose this new idea. The Council agreed and the meeting is set for Tuesday, October 3rd at 6 PM. Light snacks and sodas will be served.

With nothing further to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.

The Council will meet again before the October 3rd event at 5:30.
