Program History Over the past nine seasons, Lexington Catholic has established itself as the premier girls basketball program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Lady Knights have won seven regional championships over the past eight seasons. In the Sweet Sixteen state tournament, Lexington Catholic has appeared in six of eight State Championship games starting in 1999 with championships in 1999, 2001, 2005, and 2006.
GREG TODD ERA (1999-2006) 2004-05: Lexington Catholic played in the State Championship game for the third consecutive season and captured the school's third state title in seven seasons. The season was the most successful campaign in school history as the Lady Knights won the Fifth Third Bank Classic, won the Naples Daily News Holiday Shootout, and was ranked as high as #2 nationally. The team ended the season with a 36-1 record and ranked as the #6 team in the nation. 2003-04: Lexington Catholic overcame the most difficult schedule in school history to win their second consecutive 11th Region Championship and competed in the State Championship game for the second straight season. The Lady Knights finished the year with a 29-8 record and as Kentucky’s State Runner-up. 2002-03: Lexington Catholic achieved a school-record 27-game winning streak en route to finishing as Kentucky’s State Runner-up with a 32-5 record. The Lady Knights also captured the school’s fourth 11th Region Championship in five seasons. 2001-02: Lexington Catholic won the Naples Daily News Holiday Shootout by defeating the nation’s #6 ranked team, South Broward High School. The prestigious event marked the beginning of a 21-game winning streak for the team. The Lady Knights ended the season with a 29-3 record. 2000-01: Lexington Catholic captured the school’s third consecutive 11th Region title and won the 2001 Kentucky State Championship by defeating duPont Manual 36-34 on Sarah Schell’s game-winning jumper at the horn. The team ended the season with a 32-4 record and ranked #8 in the Midwest in USA Today. 1999-00: Lexington Catholic advanced to the Sweet Sixteen state semifinals after winning the school’s second consecutive 11th Region championship. The team ended the season with a 32-4 record.
