‘59 Jennie Pena Conn is now retired. She and her husband, Bill, have been married 48 years. They have 3 married children and 6 grandchildren. Jennie and Bill have lived in Paris, Kentucky, for 30 years.
’73, ’79 & ‘99 Over President’s Day weekend, six Lexington Catholic Moms (including two LC alums) went to New York City to see Legally Blonde, starring Laura Bell Bundy (’99). After the show they met Laura and had their picture taken with her in her dressing room at Broadway’s Palace Theatre.

‘81 Sherrie Ledbetter Yessin is a homeschooling mom of 2 girls: Holly, 9, and Sally Anne, 7. She is married to Mike Yessin and they recently opened a new business in Lexington, the "Lexington Seafood Co." It is located @ 867 East High St. in Chevy Chase; behind the "Saltbox" and across the street from Shoppers Village Liquors. They serve take out lunch/dinner and sell fresh seafood. ‘82 Phillip Ferguson was named Chief of Police in Duck, North Carolina. A ceremony was held December 21st at the Duck Public Safety Building and was attended by members of the Town Council along with friends and family. Town Manager Layton administered the Oath of Office to Chief Ferguson and his wife, Sandy Ferguson, and pinned the new badge on while his daughter, Piper, and his mother, Anita Ferguson, looked on. Chief Ferguson has been with the Department since its inception being the first Police Officer hired by the Town in April 2003.
In addition to his new role as Chief of Police, Chief Ferguson makes up half of the Town of Duck Police Department's Bloodhound Tracking Team with his popular bloodhound "Morse". Photo submitted by: Phillip Ferguson.
‘85 Brian Hale has recently joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC (FBIHQ). Currently, he is working in the Office of Public Affairs, Executive Communications, Director's Division. Prior to joining the FBI, Brian served as Press Relations Manager for Patton Boggs LLP a leading national lobbying firm from 4/2003 until 10/2007; and as a Field Producer for ABC News 20/20 in New York and Washington DC from 9/96 until 4/03.Brian lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife Lara Oerter and two children Josie (2 yrs old) and Nathaniel (11 months).
‘91 Brian Rink, along with wife Lori, welcomed their first child, Katherine Polly Rink, on October 8, 2007. Brian is an Senior Loan Executive at First Financial Mortgage in Lexington. Lori teaches Literature at Lexington Catholic High School.
‘95 Kelley Barber Burchell and her husband, Steve, proudly welcomed a daughter, Kylie Reed Burchell, on October 3, 2007. Kylie weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces at birth and was 20 inches long.
‘95 Pamela Neuman Johns and her husband, Justin, welcomed a baby boy named Gavin on January 23, 2007. They currently live in Lexington, where Pam is a stay at home mom and Justin works at Lexmark. Pam would love to hear from her classmates. E-mail her at paneum0@hotmail.com
‘95 Angela Van Pelt Wasik and her husband, Tim, welcomed their third son on October 8th, 2007. He was named Brady Davis Wasik, weighed 9 lbs, 11 ozs, and was 20 inches long at birth.
‘99 Thomas Morgan finished first in the senior men’s 8-kilometer race to lead Team USA to the team title at the fourth annual North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in Orlando.
‘00 J.T. Mitchell and his wife, Tricia, are the proud parents of two children, Hannah Kathryn Elizabeth, 3 1/2, and Logan Wayne, 18 months. They are living in Richmond, Kentucky. The equally proud grandmothers are Kathryn Maguire, Class of 1967, and Elizabeth (Libby) Mitchell, Class of 1978.
‘04 Harrison Morton is a standout basketball player at Northern Kentucky University. He scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds as NKU won its second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division championship with an 88-78 victory at Lewis on Saturday, March 1st. He currently leads the team in scoring and steals.
‘06 Mary Buncher is among 80 University of Kentucky students who were chosen to participate in the University of Kentucky's Leadership Summit. The University Leadership Summit is a prestigious year long program. Students attend by invitation only and must be nominated by University of Kentucky faculty or staff. The Summit includes a weekend retreat and monthly summit meetings coordinated through the Office of Student Involvement. Through the program, students attend topical leadership forums and work toward the completion of campus-wide leadership projects. The goal is to help unify the University of Kentucky campus and campus leaders. Only 100 out of 24,000 students are chosen to be invited to participate in the Summit.

In Memoriam
‘54 Judith G. Begley passed away on October 26, 2007, at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center. She lived in Lancaster, Kentucky, most of her life where she retired as a registered nurse with the Garrard County Health Department. Her faith was very important to her throughout her life. She was an active member of the St. Williams Catholic Church, especially in the Altar Society and the Bible study program. She has been dubbed Christian Appalachian Project's 1st volunteer by founder, Fr. Ralph Beiting. Survivors include her loving husband, Bill, daughter, Kate, son, Will, brother, Mike, sister, Pat, and six grandchildren.
‘56 Frank E. McFadden passed away on March 4, 2008, at the age of 70. He lived in Lexington and retired from IBM. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, a life-member of Blue Grass Sportsmen’s League and The League of Kentucky Sportsmen. Frank also served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his loving wife, Sally Scully McFadden, son, Patrick (Penny), daughter, Lisa, four brothers, John (Norma), Donald, Philip (Helen), David (Gale) two sisters, Mary Royalty, Kathleen (Wayne), a special aunt, Virginia, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

‘59 Margaret Ann Schiavone Underwood retired from teaching in the Archdiocese of Louisville after 33 years. She is now Pastoral Associate at St. Ignatius Martyr Church in Louisville. She welcomes her nephew, Nicholas Smith, as a new teacher at LCHS in the religion department.
‘89 Chuck Zavos (89'), along with his wife Abby, would like to announce the birth of their son, Gram Henry Zavos, on October 17, 2006. Chuck is in his fourth year of teaching in the Liberty, MO school district. He currently teaches high school Broadcast Journalism. ‘93 Kevin Bruggeman was the Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Line coach for the Lexington Horsemen Indoor Football team. The Horsemen won the Eastern Conference championship (67-49) over Bloomington Extreme. They were runners up in United Bowl III to Sioux Falls Storm (62-59). Kevin currently teaches Health and is the Special Teams Coordinator and a defensive coach at Lexington Catholic.
‘96 Ensign Neal Banta is training as a naval aviator in Pensacola, Florida. As a former Second Class Aviation Electronics Technician, he was assigned to naval air stations in Pensacola; Sigonella, Sicily, Italy; and San Diego, California. When he was an avionics instructor at NAS North Island, San Diego, he was selected for participation in the Seaman to Admiral-21 program as an officer candidate. He graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in political science. Neal has been in the Navy since November, 1997, and was married in August 2006. His wife, Tara, is a nurse and they are expecting their first child, a daughter, in November.
‘99 Michelle Hall Davis ('99), and her husband, Nick Davis, welcomed their new baby boy, Riley Patrick Davis, on June 27, 2007. Riley weight 9 lbs, 10 oz. at birth. Michelle and Nick are the owners of Stavro’s Pizza Co. and Sports Bar in Evansville, IN.

‘42 George Dotson, of Jacksonville, FL, died Aug 28, 2007 at the age of 80, following a lengthy illness. A Lexington native he has lived in Jacksonville for the past 38 years. He was born Nov 11, 1926, the son of the late George Dotson and Emma Stewart Dotson Hicks and was also predeceased by his stepfather Alyn Hicks. He was a graduate of the Lexington Latin School and attended the University of Kentucky. A World War II veteran, Mr. Dotson retired from the Greyhound Corporation as Regional Manager after 45 years of service. He was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Knight of Columbus Bishop Kenny Council. He enjoyed cheering on his Kentucky Wildcats amid a sea of Gators. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Dotson, two sons, James Philip Dotson, George Thomas Dotson (Charlotte) and a daughter, Cheryl Roth (Ed) and four grandchildren, A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Prince Of Peace Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Graveside services in Lexington at Calvary Cemetery were on Tuesday, September 4.
‘46 John B. Jeter. Sr, 79, of Lexington, died April 24, 2007, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born in Lexington to the late W. A. and Thelma Harnett Jeter, a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, past president of UK Troopers, past president of Toastmasters International, former deputy sheriff of Fayette County, and a golf pro in Hollywood, FL. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, papaw, and friend. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years Mary C. "Dottie" Mullins Jeter, Class of '55, his 12 children and 31 grandchildren. The funeral was held at Pax Christi Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Christopher Jeter memorial fund, care of Community Trust Bank.
‘47 Malcolm Brown Saunier, CPA, 76, husband of Mary H. Saunier, died Thu, Oct 4, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Stanley Milward and Mary Loretta Brown Saunier. Mr. Saunier was an Air Force Korean War veteran and the founder, owner, and operator of Malcolm B. Saunier and Company CPA Firm for forty years. He was a graduate of the Lexington Latin School and the University of Kentucky, and attended Xavier University. Immediate family survivors other than his wife include a son, W. Malcolm Saunier, Lexington, KY; four daughters, Melissa (John) Arnold, Amanda (Gary) Logsdon, Louisa (Jack) Beckman, and Tiffany (Eric) Hurley; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Cathedral of Christ the King. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr, Lex, KY 40504, Sisters of Visitation, 1500 35th St. N.E., Washington, DC, 20007, or Malcolm B. Saunier Memorial.
‘54 David M. Mudd, 71 years old, died on July 10, 2007, from lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Cora, 4 children, 6 grandchildren (a set of triplets!) and 1 great grandchild. David is responsible for his Class of '54 class picture hanging in the Lexington Catholic hallway.
‘64 David Russell Connors died September 18, 2006, at his home in Cary, NC. He was employed with IBM for 42 years and was also a referee and umpire for the Cary Recreation Department for fifteen years. Dave was an avid runner who had run marathons for ten years and at the time of his passing, was training for the Dublin Marathon. Dave loved life and people and had many friends in Lexington, Colorado, and North Carolina. He is missed by all who knew him. Immediate family survivors are his wife, Diane Payne Connors, son Jeff Connors (Cathy) and daughters, Krista Connors and Tracy Connors.
‘71 Danutia Wysocki, 52 years old, died from a pulmonary embolism after knee surgery on June 21, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Dale Parsons and her 16 year old daughter, Kazia Parsons.
‘76 Celia C. Miracle, a bookkeeper for the Woodford County Board of Education for the past 12 years, wife of Luke A. Miracle, died Wed, Aug 8. She was 49. Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Hugh J. and Anne Newton Cramer and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Caitlin Miracle, and a son, J. Allan Miracle, both of Versailles.

Former Employee Sister Cecilia Clare Spalding, SCN, 95, native of Slidell, LA, died on Wed, Aug 8, 2007 at the Motherhouse, Nazareth, KY. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for almost 77 years. Sister celebrated the 75th anniversary of her religious profession on March 25, 2007. Sister served in the postulate of education as a music teacher on the elementary, secondary and college levels in Kentucky, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Ohio and Maryland. Her longest assignment was at Lexington (KY) Catholic High School, where she taught from 1942-1959. |
