Sandy Devers was nice enough to provide us snacks for our meeting. Thank you, Sandy….
Susie Morton led the group in an opening prayer.
Status of Mid-Knight Stakes
Pam said everything was on track for the big event scheduled for February 3rd. Susie asked if they needed additional volunteers and Pam said yes and told her to contact Debbie Schnurr to sign up.
Status of Fat Tuesday Business Lunch – 11:30 am February 20, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza/Campbell House
Tom informed the group that he had confirmed with the Crowne Plaza/Campbell House that the Turf Room was reserved for our first Alumni Business lunch. We will be able to select from the buffet for the price of $10.95 per person. Pam urged the Council to personally contact former classmates to make sure they mark their calendars for this great opportunity to network with other alumni and have a great lunch at the same time. Sandy Devers is going to pick up some Mardi Gras decorations for the occasion. We also went ahead and set the next two luncheon dates at May 8th at the Crowne Plaza and August 21st at Malone’s in the banquet room. Pam was going to write up a postcard and mail it to all Lexington alumni and to the surrounding cities as well about two weeks before the big day.
Status of Spring Fling/Keeneland/Reunions
Pam opened the discussion up as to whether or not to hire a DJ or a band. Pros and cons were offered by council members. Several council members offered to make some calls to determine the cost of hiring a band and they’d report back to the council at the next meeting. The Spring Fling will move back into the new gym this year and the table setup and concessions/bar will be set up differently than last year. Susie reported that she’d heard from Louise Bieschke and Louise had received good feedback from her 1967 classmates for their upcoming 40th reunion scheduled that weekend. Pam had heard from a class year ending in 7 and they were interested in hearing more about hosting their reunion that weekend. Sandy suggested we try to coordinate the food for the Keeneland outing so we have a variety of offerings and not too much of one thing.
Principal’s Cup
This year’s event is scheduled for Monday, May 14th at Spring Valley Country Club. Tom and Todd agreed to be in charge of organizing this event again. Pam encouraged the council members talk it up to their friends and encourage them to participate. All proceeds benefit tuition assistance for financially challenged students.
Next Meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th at 6 PM in the President’s House.
With nothing further to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
