Coaching Staff

·  Chelsea Chowning is entering her second season as the Head Coach of the Lady Knights after leading them to a 19-12 record and the regular season 43rd District Championship in 2010-2011. She graduated from Lexington Catholic in 2003 after leading the Lady Knights to three KHSAA Final Fours and a State Championship in 2001. She competed collegiately at Xavier University and then at the University of Kentucky where she was named 2008 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a CoSIDA Academic All-American. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2010 and works as a pharmacist at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

 

 

·  Tony Talbott is entering his 16th season of coaching with the Lexington Catholic Lady Knights. He has helped lead the program to four State Championships (1999, 2001, 2005, 2006), two State Runner-up finishes (2003, 2004), and seven regional championships (1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006). Tony also is an assistant baseball coach for Lexington Catholic and was coach of their 1999, 2006 and 2009 State Championship teams.  He is a varsity assistant and also assists the program with facility management and offensive and defensive strategy development.  Tony and his wife Monica have three children: Sara, William, and Michael.

·   Nick Cann is entering his first season on the Lady Knights coaching staff.  He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2010 with a degree in Middle School Education.  In addition to leading the Lady Knights, Coach Cann is a 6th grade math teacher at Anderson County Middle School.  Before coming to Lexington Catholic Coach Cann worked with all levels of the Anderson County girls basketball program, helping the high school team reach the Sweet 16 in 2010 and coaching the middle school team to a state championship in the same year.  At Lexington Catholic, Nick coaches the JV team and serves as a varsity assistant in addition to many other coaching responsibilities including shot development, scouting opponents, and offensive and defensive scheme advancement.

·   Samantha Norman is entering her 2nd season coaching the Lady Knights. Samantha gratuated from Scott County High School where she competed as a player against Head Coach Chelsea Chowning and Freshman Coach Rebecca Ruhle. Once a rival, she is now honored to be an integral part of such a prestigious program. Samantha graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2010 where she competed on the National Champion Women's Club Basketball team with Coach Chowning.  Her coaching duties include assisting in practices and games for the Freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams, post player development, overseeing fundraising, Holiday Tournament hotel and hospitality coordination, and various other operational tasks.  Along with helping lead our Knights, she teaches 2nd grade in Woodford County. 

·  Rebecca Rhule is entering her third season as head coach of the girls Freshmen team.  She is a 2005 graduate of LCHS and was a member of the Lady Knight State Championship team her senior season.  Rebecca was also a 6 year member of the Lady Knights softball team.  She graduated from Centre in 2009 with a degree in Psychobiology after competing collegiately in both basketball and softball.  She is on track to earn her master's degree in Athletic Administration in the spring of 2012 from Western Kentucky.  Along with coaching the Freshmen team, Rebecca assists the JV and Varsity teams and is responsible for various other coaching duties including video exchange, equipment, and skill development. 

Barb Winters is entering her seventeth season as the athletic trainer of Lexington Catholic.  She has been the team's certified athletic trainer for the all seven of the program's trips to the Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament including the state championship seasons of 1999, 2001, 2005, and 2006.

Dick Bass is returning as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Lady Knights. He was part of the 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2006 State Championship teams.  He works hard to prepare the girls to be in shape for a long season.  His ultimate goal is for the girls to be in best condition for the post season play.

Glenn Gentry is a long-time member of the Lady Knights staff as a computerized statistician. He has worked numerous high-profile events including the KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament, KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament, Fifth Third Bank Classic, Adolph Rupp Classic, Kentucky-Indiana All-Star series, University of Kentucky home basketball games, and Eastern Kentucky University home basketball games.

Gary Long is a long-time member of the Lady Knights staff as a computerized statistician. He has worked numerous high-profile events including the KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament, KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament, Fifth Third Bank Classic, Adolph Rupp Classic, Kentucky-Indiana All-Star series, University of Kentucky home basketball games, and Eastern Kentucky University home basketball games. 

Jessika Caliguiri is entering her third year as the varsity team videographer and manager.  She is a Junior at Lexington Catholic who plays on the girls’ soccer team.
