Class of 1960 Reunion
Lexington Catholic High School Class of 1960 - 45 Year Reunion
Lexington Catholic High School Class of ‘60 45th (and counting) Reunion
The
Class of 1960 celebrated its 45th year reunion the week-end of
September 16, 17 and 18. It commenced with a cocktail hour on Friday
night at the Hilton Suites Lounge. A golf outing was held on Saturday
morning at High Point with Joe “Buster” Daugherty walking away with the
top score. Close contenders were Mike Haus, Lou “Connie” Fain and Louie
Reed. Saturday night was the big night,
with the class meeting at the Copperfield Club House to eat and to
party! There was a social hour followed by dinner. A few awards were
given out, with the most significant one being for “Outstanding
Knight.” It was given to William “Buddy” Wade for his faith and
perseverance in the face of many health issues and for his dedication
to LCH and the Class of ’60. The highlight
of the evening was a surprise guest appearance by ELVIS PRESLEY! He
arrived as everyone was finishing dinner, announcing to all that “Elvis
is indeed alive and well!” As he sang “Love Me Tender” to Annie
Guilfoyle Moore, she exclaimed “You’ve got me, Elvis!” Elvis said his
good friends Marsha Pike Thomasson and husband Alex who were unable to
make the trip from Florida sent him in their place. At
the end of the evening, there was a drawing for the much coveted
autographed dog and tee shirt. Annie Guilfoyle Moore not only got
Elvis, but she also got to take the dog home! Bill Robinson took home
the tee shirt. Each reunion, our class autographs an item for someone
to take home. They bring it back for everyone to see at the next
reunion—we have books, pillows, and table cloths in addition to these
latest two additions The reunion week-end
concluded on Sunday with brunch at the Equestrian Woods Clubhouse.
Afterwards, there were hugs, kisses and promises to return for our
golden anniversary in 2010. Those who came back for this 45th reunion
claimed that this week-end of remembering and reminiscing with “old”
friends was by far our best reunion to date.
