Over the past 17 years, Lexington Catholic High School has firmly established itself as the premiere basketball program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Knights have played in 12 regional championship games since 1991, winning five region championships. Overall, the program has the most victories in the state over that time compiling a 434-99 record (.814) and on six occasions, Lexington Catholic has completed the season with 30+ victories. 2010-2011 The 2010 Knights senior class was the first class to win 3 region titles in 4 years at Lexington Catholic and was the first to do so in the 11th region since the early 1970’s. Lex Cath went 27-8 as they completed one of the toughest schedules in Knights history. LCHS competed, for the first time, in the Nike National Tournament in Honolulu Hawaii finishing 5th with a 3-1 record. The Knights also won the 11th region title after being district runner-up. Lexington Catholic finished as Sweet Sixteen Quarter finalists, losing to eventual State Champion Christian County. The senior class of Seth Beckham, Taylor Martin, Hunter Porter and Scott Schuette finished with a career record of 105-25 in their four years.
2001-2002 Lexington Catholic captured the program's first State Championship with an 83-53 victory over Paducah Tilghman in the title game. During the season, the team was also crowned as champions of the Westminster Academy Holiday Classic and the Fifth Third Bank Kentucky Holiday Classic. 1999-2000
Lexington Catholic won the Kreul Classic in December and set a school-record as the highest scoring team in school history. The Knights defeated five ranked teams in succession and defeated Louisville Male in the state quarterfinals in front of the third largest crowd in state history (22,344 fans) before falling in the State Championship game. The team ended the season with a 32-5 record and as Kentucky State Runner-up. 1997-1998 Lexington Catholic entered the season ranked among the top teams in the nation and established itself quickly as a national power. The team began the season by defeating the nation's #5 ranked team, Oak Hill Academy (VA). In January, the Knights defeated the nation's #2 ranked team, Chicago Whitney Young at DePaul University. Lexington Catholic was also crowned champions of the Great Florida Shootout and the Fifth Third Bank Kentucky Holiday Classic. The Knights season ended in the state semifinals in what many consider the greatest Sweet 16 game ever and with a 33-3 record. Click here to download a short video highlight of the 1998 Sweet 16 State Tournament 1996-1997 Lexington Catholic began the season with a school-record 27 consecutive victories and championships in the City of Palms Classic, Fifth Third Bank Kentucky Holiday Classic, and the All "A" Classic State Championship. In the final game of the regular season, top-ranked Lexington Catholic traveled to #2 ranked and defending state champion, Paintsville in what was one of the most highly anticipated and highly publicized games in state history. Paintsville ended the Knights' bid for a perfect season with a four-point victory. The Knights ended the season with a record of 31-2. 1995-1996 Lexington Catholic won the 11th region championship and advanced to the state semifinals before finishing the season with a 30-5 record. In December, the Knights won the Bluegrass Festival by defeating the nation's top-ranked prep school, Maine Central Institute. 1991-1992 Lexington Catholic established itself as a state power by finishing the season as Kentucky's State Runner-up with a 30-7 record. The Knights also captured the All "A" Classic State Championship in February before winning the 11th Region Championship in March.
