Erica Formisano

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - a wonderful read plus it gives a bit of history about German occupation of the islands in the English Channel during WWII

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - long but a wonderful, wonderful story told through the eyes of several characters – one being a dog.  If ever an author could “channel” a dog’s perspective or relate what a dog might be seeing, Wroblewski did it really well, in my opinion.

Greg Hilvers

Name of the Wind, Ishmael, The Hobbit, Watership Down, The Godfather

Any Douglas Adams or Robert Asprin book

Megan Iranpour

The Count of Monte Cristo - takes place in France, many stories within stories, great details, awesome plot, love it!!!

Water for Elephants - excellent detail, you feel like you are there, impossible to believe a woman wrote it with such detail and voice for her male main character, interesting topic/subject matter

Pillars of the Earth - historically detailed and well-researched, excellent story spanning generations, love, adventure, good versus evil

Outlander - historical fiction about a woman in the 1940s who encounters a stone circle (like Stonehenge) in Scotland that takes her back to the 1740s in Highland Scotland.  (# 1 in a series of 7)

The Devil Wears Prada - a book of no particular literary merit, but I love the story, it is much better than the movie, and follows a girl-friendly world of fashion and magazines; an excellent fun read

Lee Ann Kirns

Water for Elephants, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,The Help,The Book Thief,

and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn….All time favorite!!!!!

Christy Nash

The Glass Castle, The Help, The Other Boleyn Girl, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

Ryanne Pults

Count of Monte Cristo - a classic story that I didn’t read until a few years ago.  Now it’s my FAV!  It’s long and complicated, but worth every minute!

Prodigal Summer - great story of three strong female characters and how their lives intersect.  Set in Kentucky!

The Beekeepers’ Apprentice (and subsequent books in series) - fun extension of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, with the addition of a bright, strong-willed young woman into this picture.  These mysteries are historically and socially accurate and I learned a lot.

Carrie Roberts

North and South (and its sequels) and technically anything by John Jakes.  Jakes is a great author if you like historical fiction.  I like North and South because it is an historical fiction novel that does a wonderful job of discussing all of the causes and conflicts leading up to the Civil War.  It is told from the perspective of two families, one industrial north and one slave-owning southern aristocracy.
