Intramural Basketball Rules

Gym Rules

1.  ALL SCHOOL RULES APPLY

  1. Do not go into theatre lobby for water. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to game suspension. You can use PE locker rooms or bring your own.
  2. Please pick up after your team. This includes locker rooms.
  3. Please leave basketballs on the court where you found them.
  4. Please stay in upper bleachers until games are complete. This means stay off courts.

 

Game Rules

  1. Disrespect to other players, officials, coaches, fans or facilities will not be tolerated.

 

  1. ANY ejection may result in a player being dismissed and/or suspended from part or all of season play.

 

  1. Two 15-minute halves with a 3-minute halftime.

 

  1. One time out per half plus one for the first overtime. Continuous run clock. Clock will stop for timeouts. No timeouts for the 2nd plus overtimes.

 

  1. Tie Games: 1st overtime =2-minutes will be played. 2nd overtime=sudden death.

 

  1. Jump ball at the beginning of each game. Alternating possession from there on.

 

  1. Hanging on the rim will result in a technical foul and a possible ejection.

 

  1. Foul shots will be taken when a foul is committed against a player in the act of shooting, on a technical foul, and in the bonus situation (5th team foul = per game).

 

  1. Intentional fouls result in the opposing team being awarded two free throws and the ball out of bounds. Flagrant fouls are intentional plus ejection from game.

 

  1. All teams must have four (4) players from their roster to begin the game. NO GRACE TIME IS GIVEN IF A TEAM DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF PLAYERS TO START A GAME. THIS IS A FORFEIT!!!

 

  1. TEAM’S WITH 2 FORFEITS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM TOURNAMENT PLAY.

 

  1. At this point, we plan to have 5 regular season games, plus a double elimination tournament (there may be modifications to the schedule – for example, bad weather)
