15 Year Football Reunion
15 Year Football Reunion
Saturday,
August 27, 2005 was a great night for the football alumni! Father
Robert J. Bueter came from Chicago to start the evening off right,
celebrating mass with the current players, former players and staff in
the LCHS Theater. Coach Bob Sphire and Father Bueter were surprised
when the football captains presented them with plaques thanking them
for their leadership and support in building the football program.
After Mass, the football parents (who had been hard at work that
afternoon) provided a lovely reception for everyone with great food and
drinks. Two televisions/VCRs were set-up to play many of the previous
years’ football highlights. There were high fives and welcoming bear
hugs all around. All the football alumni walked over to the Joseph K.
Ford stadium and were introduced prior to the game to the standing room
only crowd. President David Hardin and Father Bueter shook their hands
and presented them with a Lexington Catholic token of appreciation. The
former players and staff formed a tunnel for the current players to run
through, wishing them good luck, as they got ready for the big game.
And what a game it was! The current players represented Lexington
Catholic well as they played their hearts out against St. X. The final
score was St. X 37, LC 34. Lexington Catholic was so honored to welcome
home the many players and staff that have been so important to the
football program for the last 15 years. Most comments were, “Fifteen
years…. how could it go so fast?!” We are all looking forward to the
20th reunion/celebration, so if you didn’t personally receive your
invitation, send an updated address in to Pam Schneider at
